Merry Christmas! We are writing about family Christmas traditions this week. Got Elf on the Shelf? This little red guy, plastic-faced elf doll, is such a nuisance but I’ve really enjoyed him this year. My neighbor gave us “Elfie” six years ago. The tradition is that the elf becomes magic, after being properly named, flying to the North Pole every night. He reports to Santa Claus on the children’s behavior then flies back home to a new location to keep a watchful vigil. The first year there was lots of snow storms and bad weather because poor Elfie wasn’t able to alight his current location, thereby found in his same position several times between the magical elf time of December 1 and December 24.
This year, due to drinking tea and not wine, Elfie has been super mischievous. He was found upside down on the copier after making a complete copy of himself.

This tradition is oodles of fun. Buy your own elf while on sale after Christmas! You won’t regret it. The one downfall of it…my kids all wake up early to find Elfie first! Elfie flies back to the North Pole tonight (Christmas Eve) with Santa. I guess I can turn the nightly Elfie alarm off my iPhone. Have a wonderful, joyous and blessed Christmas!
