Guts “n” butts- it’s what we all worry about in our swim wear-right? LOL The good news is that you can firm up these areas in 6-12 weeks if you have a little patience and can be consistent. I believe abs are mostly made in the kitchen, but butts are mostly made in the gym!
Today I am going to focus on abs as it is my favorite body area to exercise. Not only does a toned tummy look good and make you feel good, but a strong core is good for you! It will enhance your posture, make your running form more efficient and it will decrease strain in your lower back.
Cycle and Punch
Forward & reverse cycle in seated position
Lying overhead extensions
Kick and crunch
Perform each exercise for 45-60 seconds and complete 2-3 sets 2 times per week. This should take no more than 20 minutes and is a great routine to add to your 30-45 minutes of cardio.
Abs are made in the kitchen though, so no running to the nearest fast food joint afterwards. Toned muscles can’t be seen under a salty fat layer! The best foods for a flat tummy do not cause bloating. Whole foods such as fresh fruit and vegetables, brown rice, quinoa and lean proteins are your best options.
