So the hard part is over, you got yourself to the gym or wherever you are doing your exercise! Yay! Big Yay! Thats’s a big hurdle you have overcome! You are feeling good about yourself. You are riding the tide of motivation that follows all new commitments and positive changes. Congratulations! I’m proud of you, happy for you and cheering you on!
***** spoiler alert*****
Unfortunately, few people actually follow through on commitments they make. Not because they are flakes, or because they want to be fat, or because they are lazy or because they don’t have discipline. Maybe the timing is not right for them, or they weren’t motivated to make the changes for themselves, or perhaps they have underlying medical conditions that make it difficult for them. But frequently, it’s because people just don’t want IT bad enough.
They don’t want IT bad enough to get up early. They don’t want IT bad enough to go to bed late. They don’t want IT bad enough to get organized. They don’t want IT bad enough to rearrange their schedule. They don’ want IT bad enough period.
It doesn’t matter what “IT” is – but you have got to want it BAD. You can’t allow anyone or anything to derail you from your commitment to your goal. It will get inconvenient. You may have to be flexible. You may have to think outside the box. You will have to prioritize IT for you.
For me, I have a daily workout time in my calendar. It is my appointment with myself. I don’t schedule anything else in that time. But I’m a mom and life with kids, means sometimes my calendar gets rearranged. However, just like any other appointment I postpone, I reschedule with myself immediately. And I double book! Did you know that you can run while your kid is at practice?? You don’t have to sit in your car. Did you know what you can split your 60 minute work out into 2×30 minute sessions? Did you know that you can do sit ups, push ups, jumping jacks while watching TV??? You make it happen , no matter what.
What to do on days that you are “just not feeling it”???? well I got bad news for you people….. guess what ?……Yep! You got it…. you just do it anyways! I tell myself, that the days I least want to do it, are the days I need it the most. It’s boils down to your decisions. If you decide not to work out, does this get you closer to your goal? Will you feel better if you skip? Will you feel more energized? Do you make better food decisions on day you exercise? Those lethargic, blue days when you feel like a slug. Those period days when you’re cramping and bloated. Just do it. You will be amazed at how much better you will feel. When you feel below par, just move and keep moving. Your IT, will thank you later!
