Greetings from Ireland to all our readers! The kids and I are thoroughly enjoying our time here. The pace of life is slower, the weather wetter and colder and the people are great fun! It’s an expensive country to visit though… between the higher cost of the Euro and the higher taxes on products etc. But guess what …. kids are actually way more easily pleased than we imagine. We are staying at my mum’s house and she is an avid animal activist and there are cats, dogs and hedgehogs aplenty! I found the kids outside the other day entertaining themselves by making up names for the cats and imagining their personalities! Yesterday morning we were staying with friends in the country side and all the kids got up in the morning and played with a big pile of sand for over an hour. I took them on a country walk and again hours of enjoyment were had by picking the local flowers. They are flowers that we don’t have in California, one of them being a small yellow flower called a buttercup. When you hold it under someone’s chin, there is a yellow circle reflected on the person’s chin! Stupid stuff, but kids love to learn, see and experience new things. It doesn’t have to be high tech or fancy. Kids all over the world want the same thing….to be loved. They want our time and attention. We shouldn’t feel like we have to be pressured into high end entertainment . Some of their best memories will be from the simple things in life. The time you played on the seesaw with them for 45 minutes. The time you helped them ride a bike for the first time. The time mom did cannon balls into the pool. Let us know what you did this week that your child enjoyed and that didn’t cost a pretty penny!
