I wish I could say I was one of those beautiful women, who glowed during pregnancy. But alas I did not. In fact I broke out horrific acne that did not go away. So on top of putting on 40 lbs with each pregnancy, I also had a the face of a hormonal teenager. Not attractive. It was persistent and stuck around for about 12 years. I think I have tried every product on the market, I gave up all the trigger foods at one point or another, with no improvement. I did blood tests that showed all my hormones were fine. Doctors suggested I go on the birth control pill, to control the acne, but I didn’t. I figured, why take a pill to control hormones, that apparently aren’t causing the acne??? And also, the pill just alleviates the symptoms and does not “cure” the acne. I eat a good nutritious diet and drink plenty of water, and the acne just wouldn’t go away! After 12 years of bad skin I decided we were in a place financially, where I could invest some money into professional treatments. I got a recommendation to see Vanessa Glenna from my sister-in-law, who has beautiful skin (I’m very jealous of it Michelle:)).
Vanessa is one of those people you meet, and instantly feel secure around. She is very calm, poised and exudes a quiet confidence. Her offices are tranquil and relaxing. I am always in top gear, but around her, I relax and thoroughly enjoy my treatments. It is one of my favorite appointments in my calendar:).
Vanessa took a thorough review of my skincare, diet and the treatments I had tried. She came up with a treatment plan using her products, that she felt would best address my particular skin concerns. Part of my treatment involved chemical peels and she was very careful to ease into these, and gave me comprehensive follow up care instructions. Within just a few treatments, people started to really notice improvements in my skin. So much so, that they visited Vanessa themselves! (including Kellie). Over the past year, my skin tone has improved dramatically and is far more even. My breakouts are now just 1-2x per month as opposed to multiple breakouts per week. I still am seeing Vanessa for therapeutic facials as my acne is not 100 % gone. But I figured I have had it for 12 years, so it’s going to take a while to completely heal my skin.
In addition to chemical peels, Vanessa also offers clinical facials, microdermabrasion, age control, pigment control and rosacea treatments. Her prices are very competitive and she always has some specials and/or packages running. She strives to work within the budget of her clients. Regardless of your skin care needs, you can trust that you are in the best of hands with Vanessa. Her services are offered by appointment only (951-212-7394), at 28636 Old Town Front Street, Su 200, Temecula, Ca 92590.
Q & A with Vanessa Glenna, owner, Therapeutic Skin Care
1- How long have you been an Esthetician and what attracted you to this career?
I’ve been working in the skin and body wellness field since 1998. I started as a massage therapist and incorporated clinical skin care in 2006. Currently, clinical skin care is all I do. I love it! Its all about results and consistency. Helping people look and feel better is quite rewarding.
2-What is the most common thing people do that damages their skin?
The biggest mistake people make is under estimating the importance of daily SPF. Its accumulative damage over the years that damages the skins appearance & health.
3- What would you describe as the minimum skin care we should all follow on a daily basis
Basic skin care includes good quality products & consistency. Cleanser, toner with AHA’s, day cream with SPF and night cream. Weekly exfoliation is easy and makes a big difference. Basic serums for most skin types include vitamins A&C. Serums are corrective and can be added in even the most basic daily skin care routine.
4-Do you have any specific brands of products you recommend? Why?
PCA is my 1st choice in skin care. Its a clinical line that’s very results oriented. Top quality, stabilized ingredients, which means it works. PCA is a superior company to most other competitors and strives to educate us professionals so we can educate and better serve you! Having said that…there are many other great lines out there.
5- What is your favorite thing about your chosen career?
I enjoy educating clients on what is good skin care for them personally. Watching great results occur over time is also very exciting
