Plain and Solid
There are few adjectives to describe my fashion sense: Plain and Solid. Plain, as in plain one-colored t-shirts, jeans with rips on the bottom, (because of my “stout” stature), flip-flops, and my hair is always up.
When we decided to book a photo-shoot for this blog, Mary suggested we wear dresses. WTH??? Seriously…I cannot coordinate to save my life, so I was going to need some major help.
As a grown adult, my mother, is usually the one how coordinates my family pictures, otherwise we dress plain and solid! I have dressed this way for as long as I remember. M took us shopping and chose many dresses for me to try. I actually bought three, and all three I would have never chosen off the rack. Then she picked out a pair of silver snakeskin heels, I would have NEVER, NEVER EVER picked these out for myself. They go with all of my dresses, and I LOVE them! They make me so happy, they are silver but pick up the hues in any outfit. They are neither PLAIN or SOLID!
I wore one of the dresses for my Dad’s retirement party and got so many great compliments. This taught me a lesson that I do not have to dress plain and solid! I would have never pushed myself out of my comfort zone without a group of great girlfriends! I challenge you to dress outside of your comfort zone once in awhile!! Dress up; do your hair, get out of those workout clothes, you are worth it! As a mother, I am sure you make your children brush their teeth, comb their hair, get dressed, now Practice what you preach!!!
