Aaahhh…. A week of no alarm clocks and little or no schedule! Bliss. I love sleeping till I wake naturally and this year I have been mostly a good girl and getting to bed at 10/10.30 pm. I feel so good but because I am sleeping till 7 ish and not actually getting up till 8 ish. But, my early morning workouts are not happening!!!
Ragnar Relay is in less than a month away, darn it, which means I feel under pressure to get miles in and keep my fitness level up. So, I have to be inventive. I am splitting my runs- a couple miles in the morning and a couple in the evening. Some days I have partnered up with the fabulous Temecula Valley Tri Club and gotten a workout in with them. Often I resort to splitting my strength training workouts into 2 or 3 parts, and getting it in at random times of the day. It is possible to get 15 mins of abs in while watching tv!
On the food side, I have been doing pretty well and keeping away from restaurants despite my kids asking to go places. Instead, I have been letting them chose what’s for dinner and cooking it with them. By keeping our schedule pretty unstructured, it minimizes all that running around where kids get hungry and cranky and you end up making less than stellar food choices.
A fun family event is a no electricity night! My kids and I did this for the first time last Saturday evening. All the lights for turned off and we filled the kitchen with candles. We played our new favorite game, Forbidden Island, and enjoyed homemade snacks and homemade lemonade (Ethan’s specialty).
I hope your Spring break is wonderful! If you need any tips on getting your workout in or healthy snacks that your kids will actually eat, leave a comment below and we will get back to you!
Happy Easter everyone!!!
